Being a fragile ecology, the high Himalayas are highly vulnerable to environmental degradation, and waste is a primary cause of environmental pollution in the high Himalayas. While waste generation is increasing yearly, the knowledge and logistics to manage it remain limited. The harsh terrain and climate only add to the challenge of managing waste.

 

At ZERO WASTE LADAKH, we strive to awaken the masses to the seriousness and complexity of the waste problem and build a broad-based, informed movement for genuine environmental protection. To sustain and amplify this movement, we need the support of individuals, communities, institutions, corporates, and government authorities.

We are passionate about developing lasting solutions to the waste problem, which is why our work is atypical. We disclose information on urgent, lesser-known, and sensitive topics related to the environment. Our outreach includes sharing only the knowledge that is procured directly by us. We specialise in managing fabric waste, a highly undervalued material. Our strength is the local community, particularly the women's self-help groups.
